Hairdressing Option 1

National Vocational Certificate (NVC)

This Hairdressing Qualification is registered with SAQA and quality assured by the Services SETA. After successfully completing your Trade Test, you will be a Qualified Hairdresser and accepted internationally

Duration

The NVC Hairdressing is a 3-year course, wherafter you will be tested for the NAMB Hairdressing Trade Test. This is an Artisans Test and the only avenue to becoming a Qualified Hairdresser

TAPH is accredited to offer the 3 NQF Levels in Hairdressing:
  • National Vocational Certificate: Hairdressing Level 2
  • National Vocational Certificate: Hairdressing Level 3
  • National Vocational Certificate: Hairdressing Level 4
Admission requirements for the NVC
  • Grade 9 Certificate
  • Must be employed full time in the Hairdressing Industry
  • Attend class one day per week
  • A passion for Hairdressing
Mode of Education

Face to Face training. Theory and Practical training takes place at the TAPH Academy. Workplace experience at the employer’s hair salon

Financial Assistance

The Services SETA provides grants to successful applicants. The application will be in the form of an interview at the TAPH Hairdressing Academy


Hairdressing Option 2

Short Skills Training (SST)

The Hairdressing Short Skills Training is not accredited. You will thus not be seen as a professional Hairdresser as with the NVC Qualification above. Most of our learners enrolled for these courses only want to learn the skill of cutting, colouring or styling. Some have gone on to work for Hair Salons and some opened Home Salons

Duration

Courses run on Fridays from 9am-12pm. Each course is presented over 4 weeks (Four weeks of one day per week. Each day is 3 hours of training)
